Description
Aging is a natural process – and one that does not have to be dreaded. Healthy aging and longevity have been a goal of man throughout time. These are facts – by the year 2050 the population of people over the age of 65 is expected too almost triple from 6.9% to 16.9% (World Health Organization 2000). From a functional standpoint, aging affects all your body functions, from cardiovascular health, glucose and insulin regulation, brain function and sleep patterns, muscle, and skeletal health to endocrine (hormonal) function, immune system, and oxidative stress and inflammation levels. And conversely, health imbalances such as poor blood sugar/insulin regulation, poor sleep, high stress, metaflammation, GUT issues and environmental exposures among others lead to impaired aging. If we can take protective and preventive measures now, aging can be managed.
